چکیده

In this paper, we present WWTP(Wireless Waiting-Time Priority) to provide relative delay differentiation in a wireless network where packets are classified into one of the ordered classes according to their relative delay requirements. WWTP ensures that a packet of higher class to enjoy better QoS(Quality of Service) than that of lower class unless it suffers from wireless channel errors. Packet having suffered channel errors is compensated such that the compensation for the higher class is stronger than the lower class.

Proportional Delay Differentiation in Wireless LAN

Providing service differentiation in wireless networks has attracted much attention in recent research. Existing studies so far have focused on the design of MAC layer protocols to achieve distributed priority scheduling. While these works have been shown to achieve certain differentiation (higher throughput or lower delay for higher priority packets) at MAC layer, they did not consider the pro...

Achieving proportional delay differentiation in wireless LAN via cross-layer scheduling

Providing service differentiation in wireless networks has attracted much attention in recent research. Existing studies so far have focused on the design of differentiated media access algorithms. Some quality of service (QoS) metrics, such as queueing delay cannot be completely addressed by these approaches. Moreover, without a formalized service differentiation goal that quantifies the outco...

Achieving Proportional Delay and Loss Differentiation in a Wireless Network with a Multi-state Link

Many algorithms for providing proportional delay differentiation and proportional loss differentiation have been proposed under wired networks. However, these algorithms suffer from low performance at encountering some distinct characteristics, such as location-dependent and time-varying channel capacity, which exist in wireless networks. This paper proposes a novel algorithm, Wireless Proporti...

Proportional Delay Differentiation Employing the CBQ Service Discipline

The DiffServ architecture provides a scalable mechanism for QoS introduction in a TCP/IP network. The idea of DiffServ is based on the aggregation of traffic flows at an ingress (or egress) point of a network and the IP packet marking for different priority flows, according to several classification criteria. Two approaches exist in the DiffServ architecture: the absolute and the relative. In a...

A scheduler for relative delay service differentiation

We propose a new delay-based scheduler called as RD-VC (Relative Delay VirtualClock). Since it performs a delay-based service differentiation among flow aggregates, the quality at microflow level is the same as that at aggregate level. This is not easily achievable when the service differentiation is bandwidth-based or loss-based. Unlike the EDF (Earliest Deadline First) scheduler [1], our prop...
